The ever changing colours of nature on Thassos island in Greece.Day after day the sun disappears behind the mountain ridge of Pangeon on the mainland opposite Thassos. Day after day the grand spectacle returns in ever changing constellations of light and colour, of cloud formations or just against the open sky. .. in front of the village amphitheatre being orientated towards the west.Since Earth was created no day was like any other. For urban people this natural transformation is less evident in their monotonous daily course of events. Equally , the true tranquility, as it still exists at Kazaviti, in the urban world became an almost lost experience. One of our guests noticed that here the "music of silence" can still be heard. And the gentle sounds of wind in the pine trees or leaves, the distant rustle of water flowing over rocks in the gorge.. the calls of sea gulls and ravens high above the houses - with the annual crescendo, the overwhelming chorus of birds in spring, of the nightingales, warblers and thrushes. Then, in summer replaced by the concert of cicadas. Soundless drifting clouds and mist along the mountain slopes soon dissolve again: the play of moods and impressions never comes to an end, and never causes tiredness. It rather conveys internal peace and real lasting recreation. |
